PSCT provided service throughout New Jersey, originally using trolleys and then transitioning to Trolley Cars, Trolley Buses, and Motor Buses. Prior to the creation of New Jersey Transit, public transportation in New Jersey was the responsibility of the Public Service Coordinated Transport Company, which was originally the Public Service Railway division of the Public Service Corporation of New Jersey until it was spun off when PSNJ was divided into two entities in 1948: Public Service Electric and Gas Company, and PSCT. New Jersey Transit Bus Operations is the bus division of New Jersey Transit, providing bus service throughout New Jersey, with many routes going to New York City and Philadelphia.
